What is Moms & Minis Pilates?

Moms & Minis Pilates, also known as Mommy & Me Pilates, is a specialized exercise program that allows new mothers to engage in Pilates workouts while incorporating their babies into the session. It is designed to help new moms regain strength, improve posture, restore core stability, and promote overall fitness after giving birth, all while bonding with their babies. 

 

What to expect from Moms & Minis Pilates?

 

  • Bonding with baby: Mommy & Me Pilates provides an opportunity for new mothers to bond with their babies during exercise sessions. The babies are typically present throughout the class, either participating in the movements or observing from a safe and comfortable spot nearby. The interaction between mother and baby can foster connection, communication, and a nurturing environment.


  • Focus on postnatal recovery: Mommy & Me Pilates specifically addresses the physical changes that occur after pregnancy and childbirth. It focuses on rebuilding core strength, targeting muscles such as the pelvic floor, deep abdominals, and back muscles that may have been affected during pregnancy. The exercises aim to improve posture, restore alignment, and alleviate common postpartum issues like diastasis recti (separation of abdominal muscles) and pelvic floor weakness.


  • Integration of baby into exercises: Mommy & Me Pilates incorporates movements that involve the baby. These movements may include lifting and carrying the baby during exercises, incorporating the baby's weight as resistance, or using the baby as an added element in stretching and stability exercises. The presence of the baby adds a unique dynamic to the workout, and the movements can be adapted as the baby grows and develops.


  • Modifications for postpartum bodies: Mommy & Me Pilates exercises are modified to accommodate the postpartum body, taking into consideration factors such as healing from childbirth, hormonal changes, and physical limitations. The workouts are generally gentle and low-impact, gradually progressing as the mother's strength and fitness levels improve.
